Biliary Artesia is the most common reason for liver transplant in children. In this disease, the bile ducts responsible for transporting bile from the liver to the gall bladder and aiding in the digestion process tend to be underdeveloped. Reconstructive surgery may be undertaken to correct this condition in the initial few months of the life of a child. However, many kids even go on to develop deep jaundice and, finally, liver failure.
